The Classical Guitar Society of Calgary since it’s beginning has undergone numerous ups and downs in it’s 34 year history. What began as a monthly gathering where devotees of classical guitar could socialize, display their accomplishments and receive and give support, soon became an orginization which not only met the needs of it’s members, it also started to expanded to promote classical guitar to the general public through many successful concert series.

The concert series component went through it’s own ups and downs but over all has proven to be one of the “glues” that held it together successfully over the years.The main ingredient (the people) without which the society would collapse, still needs to be the primary focus of the group. That involves the same support basis upon which the society was founded, not only for it’s performing members but also those who are excited about involving the members in other guitar related projects.
